Heck is looking for capable digital painters for a Bible-themed video project, during spring and summer 2026. Each artist will paint a series of frames to be assembled as a fully-painted video.

By assembling a talented team of global artists, we can avoid using AI to tell this important story, and inspire viewers worldwide with genuine human art.

Details

Here’s the key info:

  • Artists will be digitally painting video frames of iconic moments from the ministry of Jesus, for a short brand film and art exhibit

  • Project is work-for-hire (freelance 1099) and fully remote (global artists welcome)

  • Beginning ~April 2026 and continuing off-and-on until December 2026, potentially into spring 2027

  • Paintings will be in a contemporary oil impressionist plein-air style

Qualifications

Qualified artists will be fast and communicative with our California-based team, and with this kind of resume:

  • Professional digital painting experience in Procreate or Photoshop (other apps may be acceptable, too)

  • Ability to simulate and oil brushwork, texture and lighting

  • A portfolio of hand-painted (not AI) digital paintings that shows a versatile use of impressionist oil painting techniques

  • Religious background or subject matter experience not required, but helpful

  • Willingness to capture/be featured in BTS content, including your likeness/voice, to be shown in ancillary process videos

Soft Skills

Beyond technical abilities and experience, we’re looking for artists well suited for collaborating on this sacred subject matter, and who will fit the culture of our team during this long-term project:

  • Friendly and easy to work with, taking direction well

  • Managing time and budget to keep commitments

  • Meticulous filenaming and project organization (we have a great system)

  • Positivity that keeps the team feeling good under pressure

Rate

We’re still designing the scope and workflow of this ambitious project, but we plan to offer rates starting at $50/hour.
