Freelance Junior Video Editor

Overview

We’re looking for a part-time Junior Video Editor to support our ongoing client projects and social media team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on a variety of content, from polished brand pieces to fast-paced social media edits.

You’ll play a key role in helping execute edits, especially for social content, while supporting the broader post-production workflow.

Key Info:

  • Location: Remote (Pacific or Mountain Time Zone preferred)

  • Job Type: Part-Time Contractor

    • Must provide your own editing equipment, software and reliable internet connection.

  • Hours: 5–10 hours per week (flexible schedule)

  • Rate: $30–$40/hour

Responsibilities

You’ll be expected to handle these tasks like a pro:

  • Assist with editing client video projects from rough cut through final delivery

  • Edit short-form content for social media (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, etc.)

  • Create and implement minor motion graphics (titles, lower thirds, simple animations)

  • Organize project files, footage, and assets for efficient workflows

  • Sync audio, prep timelines, and assist with basic color correction and sound balancing

  • Export and format videos for various platforms and specs

  • Collaborate with other editors and creative leads to execute project vision

Qualifications

Qualified artists will be fast and communicative with our California-based team, and with this kind of resume:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Working knowledge of After Effects (for basic motion graphics)

  • Strong understanding of social media formats and trends

  • Solid sense of timing, pacing, and storytelling

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks independently

  • Strong attention to detail and openness to feedback

  • Basic color correction and audio editing skills

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience editing branded content or commercials

  • Familiarity with animation workflows or compositing

  • Experience working with a production company or agency

  • Experience formulating content calendars and using social media posting sites

Rate

We’re offering $30–$40/hour, paid monthly as a 1099 subcontractor via Gusto
